This is going to be the strangest game that anybody on either team has ever played in.

There's nothing in it for the Oil, locked into 2nd. Does anyone from their side actually "play" in it?
Must escape tonight healthy

We could still pass Colorado and get a home ice playoff round against them.

I assume that Broberg will draw in for someone tonight given that he was recalled. Maybe Ekholm? Give him a well deserved night off. Wouldn't mind seeing Stecher get in another game too.

Coyotes will want to leave Arizona on a high note. Here's hoping we ruin their night. I'd like another shot at double-digits...
I suspect that next game we see some load management from both Oilers and Avalanche, so it could be the last chance of the regular season to pick up some McPoints...

I could see the Yotes winning this game.
The Oilers have zero to play for and honestly, the goal is to come out with no injuries in these last couple of games. This is not only the last home game but the last game EVER for this team. They will come out hard and want to win really badly I suspect.

This is why you never want a Doan on your team. They show up, your team moves. That's just how it is.

Making Steve Kelly the single best draft pick in Oilers history.

They could have drafted the local kid named Jerome instead.

Not too many saw Jarome turning into Jarome. I would have hated having to trade him to Calgary for Joe Nieuwendyk who I forgot won 3 Cups.

Not only that, but he won the Conn Smythe when the Stars won the Cup in 1999. That is a rare trade where both teams clearly won.

All agreed except Calgary never won because the puck wasn't in.

I hated Steve Kelly for multiple reasons and I was pissed when we drafted him.
a) He took horrible penalties at the worst times in Prince Albert WHL days
b) Skated like the wind with no finish in Jr.
c) Dumber than a bag of hammers.
d) He stole the girl I was trying to date in high school.

I'd be load managing both of these games.
I would strongly consider sitting Ekholm for at least 1, maybe for both games and let Broberg have his minutes. He is 33 yrs old and is critical to the Oilers success. I'd also get Stetcher in there and have him play both games to give Nurse and Ceci a game off a piece.
I'd be giving McD a game off and Leon at least 1, maybe 2.
I know they will split the games at min but I would strongly consider starting Pickard both games. Back to backs aren't great for a goalie but in the case of Pickard, unless something goes bad, he won't play for a long time. You'd be giving Skinner almost a week off so he should be fresh for game 1.

After I wrote this, I questioned myself as to whether any players tonight had played in the final Thrashers game (team didn't know the were moving until a month later, so different situation), and, of course, our boy Evander was there. Thrashers are the only team to have moved since 4 moved in 5 years in the 90s (including all WHA teams except the Oilers).

Is Kane playing tonight? I know he missed the last game.

I have a good friend that paid $700 to be able to say good-bye to the Coyotes in person. I feel bad for him and the other fans that are going to be sad to see their team go after years of the rest of the league mocking them. I also feel bad that he paid so much to see his team lose to the Oilers tonight (I slowly convinced him to make the Oilers his #2 team the past few years, so after tonight he is on our side).
I expect the Coyotes are going to play hard, and the Oilers are going to try not to get hurt, so a win isn't a given the way it was in San Jose the other night. I do however want McDavid to get a few more assists, I would hate for Kucherov to pass him.

Destroy them. Arena will mostly be Oilers fans anyways.

They should just let McDavid put up 11 to make it a historic last night.

Broberg skating towards the boards in the complete opposite direction of the puck and all Coyotes players on that first Coyotes goal...
Edit: Ref kinda pwned us on that one.
